Entry FREE with an Underbelly Arts Festival ticket, or $10 on the door pending availability.
You have a colossal, risky, experimental, strange and wonderful idea for a festival. You hold it to your heart and run the gauntlet of audience expectations, funding and partnership obligations, bureaucratic red tape, rapid gentrification, more paperwork, an overworked and apathetic populace, economic arguments… You emerge... What is the size and the shape of this thing after this shredding? What was lost? What remains? Is it worth fighting for?
This futuring workshop, hosted by Fictions for Underbelly Arts, invites you to inhabit possible festival futures. Whether you are an organiser, artist or enthusiastic festival-goer, you are welcome to contribute your voice, your stories, and your visions.
6-7pm: Meet at the Hoff Gallery and take tour of Underbelly Arts works in progress
7-9pm: Meet at the Hoff Gallery for Late at the Lab, hosted by Fictions
About Fictions
Fictions is the Sydney-based creative partnership of interdisciplinary designers Will Owen and Clare Cooper. Their futuring workshops are collaborative and often performative, inviting participants to explore what is changing the world around them and to speculate about possible futures. When we converse within multiple possibilities, we inhabit a more creative space that opens new doors. This changes the way we see our options and builds much needed agency.
About the Underbelly Arts Lab
The Underbelly Arts Lab is a two-week creative development residency, where artists from all 21 projects will be onsite at National Art School, developing, installing and rehearsing their ambitious projects. Witness the madness and magic of experimental art getting made behind-the-scenes at a Lab tour or Late at the Lab event!
