Evenings @ Peggy's 12
Next up at Peggy's on Monday, November13th at 7pm:
Amanda Stewart (poet, vocalist, composer)
Mary Rapp (songster, cellist, bassist)
Tonight’s evening focuses on the nexus between words and music with two very different approaches from our guests. Amanda has a world wide reputation for her post modern, deconstructionist, verbalisations. Her emotive utterances sound like no other. And talking of emotion; one of the highlights of last year’s NOWnow Festival, was the raw intentionality of Mary’s songs delivered with cello accompaniment. Hard to describe, but let’s say Björk plus edge.
‘Rapp…electrifying one’s nervous system’ SMH
‘Stewart is a powerful performer, mercurial, abrasive and energetic’ Avant, UK
After the music, Amanda and Mary will be heard in conversation with Stephen Adams of ABC radio. The evenings are recorded by the ABC, becoming a New Waves podcast. Evenings@ Peggy's begin promptly at 7pm (doors open at 6.30, so plan to arrive early for a chat and a drink) and finish by 9pm. These are free events, but seating is limited to 40 punters, and they require early e-mail booking registration: violinspeak@me.com
