‘See how you go’

‘See how you go’ is the next curated exhibition for Down/Under Space. The show features work from artists MP Hopkins, Sarah Byrne and Louise Curham. It has been curated by Danny Wild. Opening Thursday December 14th at 6pm and running 6-9pm every evening until Sunday 17th December.

This exhibition connects common themes in the artist's practices or at least the curators take on the artists practices - Detritus, found objects and improvisation - These themes are taken into the hands of the curator, who will be displaying the work using these threads as a mode for display. Using tools at hand, what can be found around the space, discarded objects on the street travelling to and from the gallery. The intention is to turn the dialog between curator, artist and exhibition into a collaboration. Warping the consumption of work and turning it into a more fluid exchange that will evolve during the time of the exhibition.

This approach is problematic in portraying the artists work in the intended way. The artists have been informed and agree with this framework. But perhaps the role of the curator and the means of displaying work is always problematic.
