Off the back of recent concerts and workshops in New Zealand and Chile, Joshua Hyde and Benjamin Carey bring their audio-visual duo concert 'Intersections' to the Sydney Conservatorium.
As saxophonists, improvisers and composers, the duo work with modular synthesis, audio-visual media, feedback, delicate amplification and interactive electronics in their work. The borders between synthesised, electronic, improvised, and composed music are redrawn in this program of new Australian music.
Programme includes:
- Joshua Hyde - Interference (2016) for amplified piano and video
- Benjamin Carey - _derivations (2011-2015) - improvisation for tenor saxophone and interactive performance system
- Joshua Hyde & Benjamin Carey - improvisation for modular synthesiser, tenor saxophone feedback and effects
- Benjamin Carey - lichens (2017) - for soprano saxophone and interactive audio-visual system
