Line Up:
Defektro
Defektro: is a band characterised by harsh machine produced junk metal sounds, who have performed together for over 20 years. Formed in Tokyo, Japan, Defektro, from time to time, comprises a 3 human, many machine noise unit. The units original members Hirofumi Uchino and Ayako Honda crashed onto the noise scene in Tokyo in 1995. In 2001 they were joined by Laura Griffiths to make the present day unit Defektro. Hirofumi Uchino, a futuristic Dr Frankenstien, is the evil mastermind and father of the machines invented for Defektro. The sound is produced by the machines, noise instruments and sonic weapons then sampled, effectively chewed up and spat out for the pleasure of the audience.
Contemporary society exists largely in an environment that relies on man made industry, and this environment has a tremendous influence on human sensitivity. Human beings can love and be afraid of the industrial environment, not unlike humanity from the past and present that loves nature as well as being fearful of it. Defektro presents this beauty and fear by extracting and rebuilding the essence of our industrial world opening the audience to many different layerings of what it might mean to exist at this time.

Peter Blamey
Peter Blamey is a Sydney-based artist. His work explores sound, energies and residues, and the relationships between people, technologies and environments. His practice is typically grass roots and ‘hands-on’, and frequently involves establishing interactions between disparate everyday materials to produce performances, artworks and installations aimed (in part) at reimagining accepted notions of connectivity, variability and use.

www.christinesimpson.com.au
Following on from two decades of artmaking, exhibiting, educating, collaborating, and completing postgraduate studies at Sydney’s SCA majoring in Sculpture, Performance and Installation, Simpson has arrived at a practice that has become a facilitation of energy’s processes. Via waves of light, colour, sound and unseen energy, and the subsequent direction of these elements, Simpson’s artwork manifests as dynamic permeations to impress the sensory and phenomenological experiences of lived existence.
