Vanessa Tomlinson and Music in a time of Extinction
Vanessa has recently been performing music concentrating our minds on the 6th great extinction taking place on our planet. She says "Imagine the sound of the Lesser stick-nest rat inside its nest" or "Imagine the sound of Zaglossus hacketti’s spines rubbing against a tree". Her program tonight is called Music of The Imagination and includes works for table and paper and the legendary UR sonata of Dadaist Kurt Schwitters. She will be driving to Sydney from Brisbane with her enormous and favourite Tam-Tam (Gong) A universe of Sound - especially for our benefit. Don’t mis it!
After the music, the musicians will be heard in conversation with Stephen Adams of ABC radio. The evenings will be recorded, becoming a New Waves podcast on the ABC website.
