Dream Mirror

Featuring Jola-Inanna Jones, Adam Kennedy and Shane Fahey, Dream Mirror formed in 2015, in a self-constructed sound bunker at Join the Dots arts space in Marrickville.
With a passion for analogue synths, found sound and driving rhythms, the group’s sound is intuitive, neither following or setting rules. As they create original sound transmissions, the trio explores the space between spaciousness and complexity, in a world increasingly out of balance.

Clocks and Clouds

Clocks and Clouds, presently a quartet playing upon the custom-built totally acoustic microtonal instruments tuned to exploit the sonic capability usually reserved for electronics. Having to not rely on speakers, it is easier for the metallophones and pump organ to interact with the room directly, often producing illusion of the sound coming from different locations than the source. Truly a unique sonic experience.

Sofie Loizou
Hailing from the nexus between worlds, Sofie Loizou has set up working spaces on the outskirts & fringes, finding refuge in between the cracks and facades. Her mental tools are her imagination, a willingness to experiment and a persistence of vision. Her musical tools range from hand made instruments, modified electronics, studio jams, and processed field recordings. Never one to be pigeonholed, she keeps her output diverse by producing under many aliases, and forges musical alliances with artists and makers from all over the planet including Australia, Germany, US, South Africa, Poland, Indonesia and the UK. Full of ideals and curiosities, Sofie Loizou’s artistic output reaches beyond the sonic, into realms of installation, instrument building, sculpture and living art. Her music and art
represent her journey along a spectrum of being, an exploration of interconnecting worlds, and what it means to be human from a perspective that offers a glimpse into a world that could be.

Sofie Loizou’s new semi-improvised works for electronics range from the sublime and ethereal to the cathartic, taking the listener on an undulating and sometimes emotional journey. To step into this aural world is to touch on a distant yet possible utopia.

State of Nature
Nyssa Miller and James Nichols combine their passions for nature and sound in this new project States of Nature. Their first performance at Join the Dots will use audio they recorded in the snow-blanketed mountains of the Canadian Rockies. The ambient sounds of water in this epic landscape are captured in various states, as ice, snow, and churning rivers, and presented with electronic interpretation.
