'The Sticks are a three piece band from Sydney. They meld the immediacy, spontaneity and physicality of live performance with a palette of sound more associated with produced or electronic music.
They have been described as
Innovative, moody and enthralling, [they] go beyond the realm of a standard electronic band. Their live show alone is a revelation'. (Hhhhappy)
The Sticks released their debut album in 2015 through Broken Stone and Remote Control Records.
'by album’s end you’ve been sucked through a black hole… and spat out the other side into David Lynch’s darkest nightmare' (Rolling Stone)
Made up of Daniel Pliner, Josh Ahearn and Alon Ilsar, the Sticks are currently developing material for a new album due out next year, which promises to further push the boundaries of the sound the band has developed. The Sticks feature a unique instrument designed by Alon in collaboration with Mark Havryliv, called the AirSticks. It is a ‘multi-timbrel, gestural electronic instrument’ capable of creating fat beats, pulsating soundscapes, and modulating and remixing external sound sources in real time.
