Come to Garden Lounge for an evening of highly polished poetry and entrancing microtonal music.
The night kicks off with a reading from celebrated NZ/Melbourne poet Jennnifer Compton, author of seven books of poetry and numerous plays.
Jennifer will be followed by Wollongong-based experimental musicians Clocks and Clouds.
$7 entry also comes with a free vegan chai or coffee. Cash and cards accepted on the night, or prebook now to avoid disappointment.
Doors open 430pm.
More about the artists
Jennifer Compton lives in Melbourne and is a poet and playwright who also writes prose. When it comes to the poetry side of things she likes to have it every which way possible. She very much likes winning the Newcastle Poetry Prize and being given the big cheque. And she also very much likes the hurly burly of the open mic. She has been known to slam, but very, very gently.
Clocks and Clouds brings acoustic recycled instruments that have been modified to play in unique tuning systems based on higher harmonics to explore the resonant properties of the the space in which they perform.
For this performance Terumi Narushima and Kraig Grady are joined by Jess Boyle, bringing together two meta-slendro vibraphones, harmonium, and 3d printed flutes. Unlike anything else you will ever hear!
