Megan Alice Clune fluidly shifts between musician, composer and artist. Primarily, her work explores both the concept and aesthetics of ambient music through sound installation, collaboration and performance. Megan is the founding member of the Alaska Orchestra, and has presented work and undertaken residencies across Australia, Europe and North America, including the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival (MA), Next Wave Festival, Underbelly Arts Festival, Performa 15 (NYC) and VividLIVE at the Sydney Opera House. From 2012-14 she curated MUSICAL ALASKA, a series of classical, experimental and electronic music performances at Alaska Projects, and is the founder of contemporary art/music magazine and record label, World’s Only.
Sumn Conduit is the recently formed duo project of Indigenous Australian improviser and experimental vocalist Sonya Holowell, and modular synthesist and composer Ben Carey. Within their unique pairing of the acoustic and electronic, the duo investigates the potential for oneness and multiplicity, exploring the threshold where one ends and the other begins. Their performances are strikingly dynamic, incorporating extended techniques, polyrhythms and a rich genre ambiguity resulting from their diverse backgrounds. Like a shifting storm, their sound can be both fragile and heavy, and in this duo the material pours out. Between them, the duo have collaborated and performed with numerous artists and ensembles across Australia including Ensemble Offspring, the Splinter Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera, the Song Company, and the Australian Art Orchestra. In 2019 they performed at both the NOW Now Festival and Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art, and as solo and collaborative artists their work has appeared at the Sydney Festival, Adelaide Festival, Vivid Sydney, Sydney Biennale, and the Totally Huge New Music Festival amongst others.
