Sam Gill – alto saxophone
Paul Cutlan – Bb & bass clarinet
Luke Sweeting – accordion & piano
Yutaro Okuda - guitar
Jacques Emery – double bass

Saxophonist Sam Gill returns to 505 with his quintet Scattered to celebrate the May release of 'Perspectival', the group's debut album. The band features some of Sydney’s most accomplished improvisers: Paul Cutlan on clarinets, Luke Sweeting on accordion & piano, Yutaro Okuda on guitar, and Jacques Emery on bass.

"Perspectival [is] a subdued chamber jazz recording that merges rigor with indeterminacy, performed with consummate skill... [and a] palpable air of mystery that pervades the recording." - Troy Dostert, allaboutjazz.com

‘Perspectival', the first release on Sam’s new label Radial Sounds, features a set of original compositions that Scattered have been refining since their first gig in 2014. Recorded in late 2019, the album captures the band at its best, showcasing their unique sound across five tracks that draw on the worlds of jazz, chamber music & free improvisation.

The album will be available for sale on the night, featuring an amazing cover by artist Tina Stefanou.

Come down for a night of lush, melodically-driven improvised music!
