Steve Lacy was one of the first to devote himself solely to playing soprano saxophone. Through its flexibility, richness of tone and swing, he gave the instrument a new lease of life and inspired John Coltrane to start playing it.
Phillip has been hugely influenced by Steve's compositions, and will present his own arrangements of Steve's saxophone quartet music alongside an exhibition of scores and records Phillip has collected.
