Microfiche album launch ‘Everything & Other Infinities’ + SAW

  • Old 505 Theatre 5 Eliza Street Newtown, NSW, 2042 Australia (map)

Sydney-based collective Microfiche return to 505 to launch their second album, ‘Everything & Other Infinities’, released on Portugal’s Creative Sources Rec label. Recorded in late 2019, the album features an energetic set of music developed during Microfiche’s 2019 Europe tour, which included performances at Copenhagen Jazz Festival as well as shows in Berlin & Stockholm.

To celebrate the album’s launch, Microfiche will present new music from the album alongside fresh improvisations, conjuring ethereal soundscapes that brim with strong rhythmic outbursts and melodic catharsis.

Maximillian Alduca - double bass
Nick Calligeros - trumpet
Holly Conner - drums & percussion
Sam Gill - alto saxophone
Novak Manojlovic - piano & keyboards
Phillippa Murphy-Haste - clarinet

“...[Microfiche’s] six members have arrived at their own sophisticated, suspenseful
and sometimes thrilling ways of combining composition and improvisation, with keen
instincts for orchestration.” John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald

SAW (Sweeting/Alduca/Waples) -

SAW features three of Sydney’s most exciting improvisers: Luke Sweeting on Piano, Maximillian Alduca on Double Bass and James Waples on Drums. Embracing the beauty of the Piano trio, SAW navigate a rich harmonic field with a spontaneous freedom to explore sound and texture. Relishing in their embryonic stage you will hear their music unfold and grow at the Acoustic Ritual.
