A subset of the minds that brought you 'interesting music' night Frigid have joined forces with some more interesting people and GOOD SPACE to create a nine week run of Thursday evenings of interesting live electronic music featuring live acts, deejays and veejays from 6pm til midnight for only $8 at the door.

Expect modular synthesisers with masses of blinking lights and tangled patch cables, performers playing obscure objects like panes of glass or hurdygurdies, drums played without sticks, eye bending visuals, DNA being turned into music, drones, dubs, noise, sub-bass, cut up vocals and beats alike. Improvisation, collaboration, sonic exploration. Genres being blurred, bent and re-invented before your ears.

Come down at 6pm for four live acts, DJs and live visuals. $8 at the door.

BIOs:
========
The Sticks
========
The Sticks are a three piece band from Sydney made up of Alon Ilsar, Daniel Pliner and Josh Ahearn. They meld the immediacy, spontaneity and physicality of live performance with a palette of sound more associated with produced or electronic music.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with performances at TedX, the Canberra International Music Festival and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Sticks have been on a long hiatus since releasing their debut self-titled LP.

The new single, ‘EXMEN,’ brings a long-awaited return for the trio, now dispersed across Sydney and Melbourne, and with the addition of acoustic drums in the band’s palette.

Alon Ilsar - AirSticks and drums
Josh Ahearn - bass
Daniel Pliner - keys

‘Innovative, moody and enthralling, [they] go beyond the realm of a standard electronic band. Their live show alone is a revelation.’ (happymag)

Nadia Struiwigh
=======
Based in Sydney, originally from The Netherlands, Rotterdam. Since 2009 she has been making and playing Experimental and Ambient music like some people write a diary - daily sessions to capture what she is feeling at any given time.

Sofie Loizou (aka Anomie)
========
Sofie Loizou (Anomie) is an Australian classically trained musician, composer, producer and media artist. Traversing performance, installation and public art, as well as a diverse discographic output as a composer and producer, Sofie's key interest lies in artistically exploring the convergent realms of the modern classical composer, the sound designer, the DJ, and the electronic music producer using a variety of methodologies to investigate how these realms overlap artistically, using them to extend the vocabulary of music and sound.

Sakr
========
When you’re listening to Sakr’s music, it makes you hold your breath while a delicate chaos bubbles underneath the surface. It feels like you’re standing in the remains of a moment of destruction, somewhere between pain and hope.

Sakr draws inspiration from landscapes, monochrome environments, the human condition and the eastern philosophy; Mono No Aware (the pathos of things, often associated with a poignant feeling of transience, a beautiful sadness).

Sakr blurs the lines of genre and creates a world of his own, he is not afraid to push the limits of sound design and traditional music structure.

Guest DJ: John Jacobs
========
John Jacobs is a radio maker and sound artist. He produced the Night Air on ABC Radio National, played techno in Non Bossy Posse and Organarchy and VJed with Video Subvertigo. Tonight he'll be DJing hidden gems from the last 100 years of electronic music.

========
resident DJ Chris Mountford
========
Chris Mountford is a Sydney-based DJ and producer with a strong connection to the experimental music, Burning Seed and queer party communities.

Having hosted several of Sydney's most loved warehouse parties of recent years including Orchid Funstorm, he's also summoned dancefloor enthusiasm at the occasional festival and club night.

With a performative approach to DJing, his selections strike a sophisticated balance of rhythms from the Middle East, South America and naturally, Africa, with a sonority that blends traditional instrumentation with the purely synthetic.
