Alchemical electronics, mind-melding amid flocks of static. Initially conceived after a zero-prep jam in the Blue Mountains resulting in 2020’s Meeting tape, Ivory Whips later became a more ongoing concern due to the warm feelings the process conjured for its participants. The Whips were initially to be a semi-anonymous improv unit, but appearing in the flesh makes this proposition a tad difficult. For the sake of transparency, the Newcastle/Sydney trio is made up of Amelia Besseny, Chris Colla and Cooper Bowman. Besseny and Bowman play together as Troth and in another new trio called Th Blisks. Colla and Bowman also play together as Tsap.
It’s all a bit of a charming mess innit.
