Laurence Pike (Solo):

Laurence Pike makes his first live solo performance in Sydney in over three years at Monday Night Confessions. One Australia’s most respected creative musicians, Pike has been operating at the cutting edge of the electronic, rock and improvised music worlds for over 20 years, notably as a member of Warp Records alumni PVT, electronic jazz trio Triosk, the UK’s Szun Waves, and US/Aus avant-punk group Liars.
Over the course of three recent solo releases on the UK’s Leaf Label (with a fourth due in 2024), Pike’s music has adopted the working formula of ‘one-take’ performances for drum kit and sampler; channelling in-the-moment improvisation with his singular, organic use of electronics, and intuitively constructed arrangements.

Avgenicos Brothers: REDUCTION:

REDUCTION is the joint creative project led by brothers Michael (sax) and Tom Avgenicos (trumpet). Their project showcases their lifelong musical dialogue amongst a love of modern jazz, groove and electronic sound scapes. They will be joined by Wilbur Whitta (piano/synths) and Alex Hirlian (drums) and will perform new material as well as repertoire from their debut album Treading Water, reworked specifically for the performance space at Church Street Studios
