Magda Mayas will present the first set.
Magda is a pianist and composer performer living in Berlin. Mayas has developed a set of techniques that draw on the history of prepared and inside piano vocabulary but are highly individualized and expand the language for internal piano music making.
Mayas performs internationally solo and in collaboration with a wide range of musicians and composers, including with Tony Buck, Christine Abdelnour, Great Waitress, Monika Brooks, Laura Altman and many others. Mayas has performed and toured in Europe, the USA, Australia, Mexico and Lebanon and collaborated with many leading figures in improvisation and composition. She has been producing radio pieces for ABC Australia and Deutschlandradio Kultur and released over 40 CDS to date.
In the second set, the Spence/Buck duo will play from their recently released album “Mythographer”

'The experience is free, in an approachable sense, with both artists drawing from deep experiences and utilizing penetrating abstractions, noise (that never seems random), spacious moments of reverie, and compelling, often wistful soundscapes.’ Dan McClenaghan AllAboutJAzz.
‘Surprisingly, transportingly beautiful... Tony Buck’s thinking on his craft has uncovered something and it's something enormous...’ Brisbane's 4ZZZ
‘From this first piece, he [Spence] takes us with him in his mental puzzles without ever losing us on the way. This is the talent of the pianist. We are constantly hooked, hanging on to our choices. The music breathes, stretches, undulates, resonates.’ Julian Aunos, Citizen Jazz
Tony Buck (Drums/Percussion) is regarded as one of Australia's most creative and adventurous exports, with vast experience across the globe.
