MONICA BROOKS has modelled sound works, compositions, and improvisations from piano, computer, field recordings, glasses, radio, and accordion. As a performer she has collaborated with various fabulous folks such as Jim Denley, Dale Gorfinkel, Herminone Johnson, Chris Abrahams, Robbie Avenaim, Kraig Grady, Richard Nuns, Eugene Chadbourne and Joe Talia.
WORDS FAIL trio exists because of friendships formed in the quiet fire of improvising. Chris Abrahams and Clayton Thomas have been regular playing partners since 2002, performing together with Jim Denley, Jon Rose, Tony Buck, Jeff Henderson, Clare Cooper and many others over the course of a diverse and dynamic playing life. When Clayton met Miles (a Harry Met Sally scenario in a Redfern pub), a dream for this trio was born. Chris and Miles play with a supreme dedication to sound, from the point of view of deep mastery. They are 'music' first players, open to explore the moment with egoless abandon. The combination of energies makes Words Fail a potent, poetic and often beautiful listening experience.
