Jacques Emery:
Jacques Emery is a double bassist, percussionist, and experimental composer who works on Gadigal land in Sydney, Australia. Known as a versatile collaborator, he has performed at major festivals and venues in London, Berlin, Poland, New Zealand, and all around Australia with ensembles as varied as the Mike Nock Trio and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
His latest solo work 'GIANT SHIMMER' is a barrage of hypnotic rhythmic tapestries, performed on an extended drum kit including singing bowls and a guitar played with drumsticks. Ecstatic clouds of metallic resonance are contrasted with moments of meditative stillness. Jacques is honoured to present this relatively new work at MNC, which audience members have so far described as ""trance-like"", ""like being pulled in two directions at once"", and ""freaking out in the best way possible""."
