Underwards are back at Monday Night Confessions! The quartet's tour last year was a great success, bringing their unique music to new audiences who revelled in Underwards' rich musical stories of places and experiences in nature. Having recently delved into new material Kirkwood has composed as part of her PhD, they'll be presenting works inspired by places in Dharug and Wiradjuri Countries, and relationships she is building with these places over time.
Ellen Kirkwood - trumpet

Plus:
Aidan Wong (tenor saxophone) + Jack Brennan (piano)
Aidan Wong and Jack Brennan are a sax and piano duo that plays their original compositions. From a wide range of jazz and improvising music influences, their core focus has always been on the duo aspect of performance and how it affects their writing and improvisation. Throughout the year, they have explored and experimented with elements of space, dynamics and density that arise in their own collaborative improvising voices through their own compositions, and they are looking forward to sharing it with an audience.
