Artist bio:
A highly acclaimed vocalist of the Rampur-Kirana gharana, she is known for her mellifluous and charismatic voice. Apart from classical, Indrani ji also embodies the timeless beauty of the Purab Ang as a leading exponent of Thumri.
Indrani ji’s journey of honing her talent began at home with initially her mother, then her aunt, and then her maternal grandfather Shri Sanjib Banerjee, training her since she was just a child of 3 years. Later in 1996, Indrani became a scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy under the mentorship of Pandit Arun Bhaduri. She is also known to have taken taalim from celebrated artists like the Late Vidushi Purnima Choudhury Ji, and the Late Pandit Ramashray Jha Ji. Since 2012, Indrani has been a dedicated learner of her craft from the prodigal Vidushi Manju Sundaram Ji.
In 2021, she joined hands with the prestigious Darbar Academy - the educational wing of the Darbar Festival in the UK. She currently heads the vocal department here.
She has performed worldwide at all major and prestigious music festivals including Sawai Gandharv, Saptak, Darbar and Montreal Jazz Festival, amongst many others. Indrani ji is also an ‘A Grade’ artist for both Khayal and Thumri on All India Radio.
Indrani Mukherjee’s technical brilliance as well as profound emotional depth, has left audiences mesmerised all over the world.
Indrani ji will be accompanied by Vinay Mishra on harmonium, and Apurba Mukherjee on tabla.
