Mind On Fire 'The Process of Unbecoming' album launch

Mind On Fire is a duo project featuring brothers Brad and Sam Gill. Their set tonight will celebrate the release of their debut self-produced album 'The Process of Unbecoming', featuring music that draws on exploratory approaches to composition and improvisation, often blurring the lines between the two.

Their performance at The People's Republic will feature Sam's contribution to the album in its entirety - a three part suite for solo alto sax and tape called 'Traced, Sing the Veil'. You'll also hear the duo playing two of Brad's works for alto and vibraphone, including one that is featured on the album.

2nd set
Sam Gill & Simon Barker duo

The second set will feature Sam alongside acclaimed drummer Simon Barker. Following their first duo performance in late 2015, Sam's continued study with Simon has led to a shared interest in rhythmic and textural sources for improvisation.
