SET ONE
'A Meditation on the Nature of Stability'
Using harmonics, a sustain pedal, and a loop pedal, this composition envelopes the audience in a meditative sound world, asking them to consider the concept of 'stability'.
'A Cure for Nihilism'
For spoken word and solo guitar, this work carries the audience though the tale of a young individuals's struggle with depression, exploring the feelings felt by those experiencing mental illness in an attempt to change the ways that those affected are perceived by parts of society.

SET TWO
'Narrative Generator (for Living Machine)'
For instruments, electronics, and narrator, this rule-based improvisation has the musicians and the narrator working together to perform an improvised narrative and soundtrack. Created with reference to the theories and practices of film and video games, the rules ensure that the soundtrack and narrative always match, pushing and pulling each other in different directions. Despite employing boundary-pushing improvisational techniques, this performance will be enjoyable for anyone who enjoys a good story.
