Next up at Peggy's on Monday, August 28th at 7pm:
Improvisation - what is it?
Freya Schack-Arnott -cello, Jack Ward - cello,
Ben Ward - double bass
... are all classically trained musicians who, in the last few years, have become seriously involved with improvisation. The word ‘improvisation’ is now common currency in contemporary music practice of all types, but despite many books on the subject, it retains as much mystery (and misunderstanding) as the inherent features of music itself.
They are joined by Jon Rose, who after over 45 years playing improvised music, is still trying to figure out what it is.
After the music, the musicians will be heard in conversation with Stephen Adams of ABC radio. The evenings will be recorded, becoming a New Waves podcast on the ABC website.
Evenings@ Peggy's begin promptly at 7pm (doors open at 6.30, so plan to arrive early for a chat and a drink) and finish by 9pm. These are free events, but seating is limited to 40 punters, and they require early e-mail booking registration: violinspeak@me.com
