the NOW now Festival 2018

  • 107 Projects 107 Redfern Street Redfern, NSW, 2016 Australia (map)

Over three days and five nights at 107 projects in Redfern, close to 100 musicians, performers, sound artists and installation builders will dig into the sonic architecture of the moment.

Let's start the year amazed.

In the gallery and performance room, a scheduled program of events will form the backbone of the festival. Upstairs in the rooftop gallery, The Splinter Orchestra will host an evolving installation and collaborative space for the duration of the festival.

This is what we're here for.

Welcome to
the NOW now 2018.
A festival curated by the artists.

PLAYING IN A WARZONE.
Invasion Day.
Curated by Sass Hound

Come shuffle and dance around the poisoned water hole that has been refurbished to form the “new” Redfern. Come on the day of grieving, the day of survival and mourning that is Invasion Day….that the invaders and press call “Australia Day”

Expect a combination of music that shakes the earth, performance and spoken word that rattles the cages, video, installation and art that is mashed over and under the history of the Block. The music will not fit into a genre but will be performed by both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal Artists who make work that wants to change things.

The artworks and installations will not make you feel like your on a holiday and the images will surround you and reflect the blood-soaked truths that define this date on the calendar. Them same ones that speak to the reality of the place we share.
featuring
Sass Hound, Divide and Dissolve, and many others.

Doors at 7pm.

Announcements of acts and artists will come closer to the event though nothing will be predicted or promised only reclaimed, reminded and resounding…like an echo that is so loud you feel the impact in your sternum.. then in your skull then eventually your heart and guts.

Updates will be posted at thenownow2018.net

THE SPLINTERVERSE
UPSTAIRS ROOFTOP GALLERY
JAN 24, 25, 27 & 28, 2018 FROM 7PM

Is it a Multiverse? Is it a parallel world? Is it a Hologram? No - it’s Splinterverse

An installation/happening/durational-performance taking place upstairs at 107 over the 4 days of the festival.
No pieces, no movements, no showcase, no program - just a commitment to explore an ongoing socio/musical experiment that no one person can perceive in it’s entirety.
Danger, when you enter the Splinterverse a different cosmological constant means the normal laws of art don’t apply.
Kid friendly!

Updates will be posted each day.
