‘New’ Jazz is not a predictable beast, it doesn’t always resonate sonically like the ‘old’ yet still holds the deepest essence of the musical form. 505 in conjunction with The City Of Sydney and KAWAI presents some of the most exciting sounds in our city boasting the freshest talent reinvigorating the genre.
Czarektrio create long-form improvisations grounded in groove and deep textures. Their pieces slowly unravel to reveal dense builds that showcase minimalism with a rock sensibility.
Made up of Nick Mielczarek (guitar), Chloe Kim (drums) and Harry Birch (bass), the trio have been regularly playing gigs across Sydney and Melbourne for the last year and a half. Currently preparing to release their debut album, this is their last gig in the books.
"They are following a real vision. A vision is rare. That vision, I feel, will lead them to very important new Australian musical horizons. ”- Barney McAll
