Opening Night at The Red House: Rebecca Lane and Jonathan Heilbron

The People’s Republic of Australasia is thrilled to (finally!) announce the opening weekend of our newly built facility, The Red House! Saturday evening plays host to performances from Rebecca Lane and Jonathan Heilbron.

Rebecca Lane and Jonathan Heilbron are Berlin-based Australian musicians celebrated in the fields of contemporary and experimental music. Both are members of the Berlin-based Harmonic Space Orchestra, a performance and research collective focusing on extended Just Intonation.
The Long Form is their duo project, with Rebecca's quarter-tone flutes and Jon's double bass and organ working at the forefront of microtonal and Just Intonation music and becoming renowned for their “precision, concentration and sympathy” (Gramophone). Their recording of Catherine Lamb’s Muto Infinitas (Another Timbre, 2021) was named as one of WIRE Magazine’s “Top Ten Contemporary Classical Albums”, and the duo has premiered new works for their unusual instrumentation at festivals and venues across Australia and Europe. Recent and current collaborators include Rohan Drape, Catherine Lamb, Thomas Nicholson, Alyssa Aska, and Cenk Ergun.

The program:
Catherine Lamb Muto Infinitas (2016/18) for quarter-tone bass flute and double bass
Jakob Ullmann Solo I (2010) for flutes and Solo IV (2013-14) for double bass
(simultaneous realisation)

Jonathan Heilbron (double bass)
Rebecca Lane (quarter-tone flutes)
