Concert Presentation description

This concert is a dynamic fusion of Middle Eastern and Western musical traditions. This ensemble showcases a captivating blend of string and percussion instruments, marrying the evocative tones of the tombak and kemanche with the classical resonance of violin and classical guitar. This concert features an enchanting and diverse repertoire including compositions by renowned figures like Tunisian oud virtuoso Anour Brahem, the innovative Tokso String Quartet, Persian violinist and composer Abolhassan Saba, Antonio Vivaldi and the Greek violinist Giorgos Papaioannou, as well as esteemed but lesser-known Kurdish artists such as Halo Ghareeb and Pedram Shahlai. Prepare to be mesmerised by some debut performances of charming Middle Eastern pieces as well as some Baroque classics reimagined in this not to be missed concert!

About the players:

Ariel, Isabel, Kaykhosro and Sohrab share a passion for Persian and western classical music and began collaborating earlier this year. Combining forces, they blend Western and Eastern musical traditions with ease and have explored and performed Kurdish music in unique settings including a sold out show at St Magdalene Chapel in Wolli Creek earlier this month.
