On Sunday 2 June, the 2024 Sydney Con Jazz Festival will present over 130 artists in 26 concerts, across six beautiful concert halls within the Con. Sydney Con Jazz Festival is a unique boutique festival perfect for music lovers who want to enjoy jazz performances from leading local and international musicians. With three events happening every hour, there is plenty to choose from.

Remy Le Boeuf (USA), Mike Nock, Harry Mitchell’s Quiet Country (Perth), Katie Noonan’s Elixir (Bris), Novak Manojlovic’s NoMansLand, Freyja Garbett’s Music from the Waves, Hamed Sadeghi’s Empty Voices, Darren Heinrich’s Cookbook, Jamie Oehlers’ Paper Tiger, James Sarno (USA), Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra Big Band, Zac Hurren Trio, Brekky Boy, Ten Part Invention (Tribute to John Pochée), Laneous, Phillip Johnston and The Greasy Chicken Orchestra, Microfiche with Freedman Jazz Fellowship winner Phillipa Murphy-Haste, Sabine Tapia Trio, Kevin Hunt, Alex Grace and a curated collection of classic Australian jazz documentaries in the ‘El Roco Cinema’.
Three-time Grammy-nominated, New York-based saxophonist Remy Le Boeuf is the festival’s headline act. Le Boeuf is known for blending jazz, classical forms and cutting-edge composition. His Australian debut will be supported by drummer Ben Vanderwal, double bassist Sam Anning and pianist Steve Barry. Legendary pianist Mike Nock will open for Le Boeuf, in a mesmerising solo for the evening gala concert.
Also taking to the Verbruggen Hall stage is Katie Noonan’s jazz/folk trio and Quiet Country, a Perth-based jazz collective. Electronic jazzrock trio Brekky Boy will play in the Music Workshop and experimental jazz artist Freyja Garbett will play with Sandy Evans in Recital Hall West.
“Audiences can immerse themselves in a myriad of contemporary and traditional jazz styles,” Artistic Director, David Theak says. “The festival is designed to be affordable, accessible and to showcase the best of jazz from Australia, Sydney and the world."
The 2024 Sydney Con Jazz Festival offers cutting-edge jazz, international guests, female-led projects, emerging artists, swinging bands, and a selection of Australian jazz documentaries in the Con’s new ‘El Roco’ room.
